“You’re a tiger, you’re a bear, you’re a drunk monkey who hasn't slept in a week.” This is how I produced the result of the beautiful ladies you see below. The first photo I’d taken was snore-city - your typical plastered smiles waiting for it to be over. This was my way of getting some genuine human spirit out of these ladies I knew naturally had it bursting out of them - they had all just graduated from an intense 3-year Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Northwestern. My wife included :).
Proud of my new creation, I showed the group, who proceeded to further explode in child-like laughter and excitement upon seeing their spirits captured. This remains my favorite photo from that special day.
A HUGE part of building momentum in your Emotional Health/Giving Back core is tapping into your creativity. We ALL have some form of creativity in us, though we’ve been raised to believe that we’re either creative or we’re not. While I’ll agree that some brains are naturally more inclined to spend most of their time in creative land, I also know that it’s imperative we all tap into our own creativity in order to lead our happiest and best life.
If I’m not creating, I’m not happy. My favorite way to create is turning something abstract into something that makes people say, “Wow, didn’t see that coming.” That can be in my art, my writing, my business, or yes, even a photo. When I’m creating I feel alive, and if I can make others feel the same way upon viewing it, that feeling only exponentially grows.
Creativity is growing, moving, building momentum. This is the REAL secret to happiness. It’s not the destination, it’s the learning, growth, and fun along the way. It’s about figuring out what excites you, what you have a natural talent for, and expressing that into creations that only you can claim to have birthed. It’s a magical feeling.
What is your creative super-power? What do you feel like you’re naturally good at, are passionate about, and have been able to create something new from scratch with?
Make it your goal to create something this week, and take note of how it makes you feel.

This Week's ACTION Tip:
Focus in on one of your creatives. What is something you do that, when you do it, makes you feel alive inside because you've expressed your inner soul to birth something completely unique. If you're not regularly expressing it, making sure to work it into your schedule/weekly routine to make sure it doesn't shrink into oblivion.
One way I tap into my creative is with my writing. I'm one of the lucky ones who get to express this every day. But it wasn't always this way. I had to figure out how to work it into my everyday life, but once I did it became an automatic daily momentum booster.
